Tags: Southwest Airlines This airline flew a plane full of dogs and cats out of hurricane-ravaged Houston HOUSTON — Amid the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey in the Houston area, one story has surfaced that is giving residents – and their furry pals – a renewed sense of hope.According to Dallas News, a Southwest Airlines jet used its final flight before retirement to transport a cabin full of dogs and cats to safety earlier this week. A total of 64 dogs and cats were successfully evacuated from the Houston area, buckled into seats and stowed in the foot space in the aircraft’s main cabin.The flight was done in conjunction with the California-based Helen Woodward Animal Center, whose volunteers were also onboard to assist the frightened animals.
